August 5th 2011

G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp is pretty mellow today. More leaving than coming, which means just 35 guests in camp including myself and photographer Dave. Coupled with low numbers in the other camps, peak season swell and offshore conditions equals.... uncrowded pumping waves! 🙂

The swell never seemed keen to ease today. 4-5ft sets aplenty through the day, and even the odd bigger one. Speedies had a few nice ones on the noon high tide if you got the right wave. Money Trees had walls reeling off all day with not many people at all sparsely spread out. 3rd year in a row that August has been really mellow for crowds. Stoked!

Attempt # 3 with GoPro rear mounted pole resulted in the stick breaking near straight away 🙁  But... never give up... I will get it sorted! My second surf went much better with my wrist mount, at the Ledge coming through the sunset at low tide. Some beautiful overhead waves giving a nice sucky take-off into many fun tubes. With just one other guy! Whilst 2 blokes Adam and Crackers enjoyed Money Trees to themselves.

Special mention to the kitchen staff tonight, they cooked an amazing Chicken dish with amazing sauce and delicious potatoes with flash as salad. Sorry - don't know the proper names of this meal! But it was sensational!
