Bobby's Surf Camp received news early this morning of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter occurring off of South Pagai Island, Mentawai last night at 9:42 PM, October 25, 2010. Reports of significant damage from both the quake and a following tsunami claim that up to 130 people are no longer alive and more missing. Several surf charter boats were affected (possibly destroyed) by the tsunami, the Macaroni's camp leveled, and one boat has been out of contact since. Villages lying in the surge zone were impacted, with those on the south facing coastline impacted the worst.
