G-LAND ... It was another late one last night...so at the 2nd hour after midnight i was awake, sitting on the bale in front, thick fog wrapped around the flouro lights. It was wet...cold...light onshore AND LOUD. No possibility in seeing the whitewater grinding down the reef, but i easily could see in my head where it was running the reef and what it looked liked. The next morning proved that my imagination was filled with more hope than truth.
Surf was 12-14 foot faces, those faces riddled with massive lumps. But the lumps were negotiable. It acutally made it fun, trying to surf the warbled waves smoothly, keeping up speed through the flatter sections and anticipate what the more powerful sections were gonna do. Without it being groomed up by the offshore, it was still woth being in the water. Most of the drops were exciting, standing up real tall and thick at Money Trees. Some took us for real long rides.
But today was the day for The Bay. Pretty much couldn't be a more inviting day to go play from Chickens on beyond to Parang Ireng. Tides were good all day down there, plenty of swell pushing around all the reef formations, winds light and with G-Land Proper looking like it was, the one's making the venture were coming back feeling better than when they left the camp. And that's the idea!!!
The water is still chilled enough to wear rubber. I'm still using a 2mm short-arm full...most people got spring suits or jackets on. But the water is slowly on the rise. Looking forward to feeling comfortable in trunks...
