September 10th 2010 — SELAMAT LEBARAN

G-LAND ... what an interesting day.  Just to back up to last night...it was full-on wet season.  Solid rain coming down for hours, loading up the track into Plengkung with the best mud to build something out of it.  Which come this morning, I found this to be true when the box van (with all the new guests boards) got stuck in it.  Built a great road block!

So, early morning was once again clean and looking fun.  Lot's of beautiful mornings this season.  I only see them every 3 days on guest transport, otherwise I am no where else but asleep.  I should probably start getting up earlier.   Swell still coming in strong and the big sets were double overhead at Money Trees .  But that cleanliness didn't last for long.

7:30 and the N wind was starting to build staircases up the wave face.  Definitely a really difficult wind to surf with.  It got stronger and then began to come out of the W.  Another shitty wind direction.  A lot of guests asked me "what I think."  And even though everything about the sky indicated a good day, I figured it was better to set them up for a positive surprise.  It's easier to feel thankful when there's no expectations.

And we got it.  Money Trees lining up really well starting at about NOON and the box van was still stuck in the mud.  No boards,  belly's full, and quality looking waves coming in.  13 new guests getting a good test of patience.  The boys put in a great effort to shorten up their test, but it was a test for the boys as well since today is Lebaran (Idul Fitri), an important muslim holiday that finalizes 1 lunar month of fasting.  We got everything sorted, aligned, and unstuck.

Moneys still had solid double-overhead sets coming through and pretty consistent.  Most of the focus was on Fan Palm/Ledge.  The peak was getting pulled way up reef and so was the group of surfers.  Moneys proper had only a few down there at times and if you slyly made your way down....STOKED!!!

And by sunset,  a handful of sets were breaking on Launching Pad.  It definitley planted the seed deep in my head of hopes for tomorrow.  We will see....
