G-Land Surf was solid today! Walking down to check the waves, it was apparent that the sets were an easy 6ft (double overhead). In reality there was a few 8ft sets too late in the morning. The tradewind started to blow mid morning and as the tide dropped through its mid tide stage, the best waves of the day were about then. 10:30am - 12pm seemed to be the best window and thankfully I made it out during some of that.
Surprisingly I didn't see more broken boards & leashes. Because there were some pretty solid waves coming in with some pretty brutal axings! A few good barrels were ridden here and there, but seemed like there was 2 solid swells running at once, with plenty of water moving and sections hard to read were galore.
By the afternoon low tide around 2pm, the wind had dropped right off to just a few knots, and this didn't help the situation. The swell was building too, so there was plenty of current out there, with some bombie sets, outside launching pads sets, and big gnarly waves coming through Money's. But without that good offshore the barrels were not really happening. A few crew went out and gave it a go, and got a few perhaps 'exhilarating' rides for themselves, experiencing the energy of the bigger swells. It didn't spin my wheels or many of the other guests, so we sat on the beach drinking beer as an eager peanut gallery.
