G-LAND ... looked like standard conditions for the early morning today. Not too many of them this season and it was tough to get a feeling for what it was going to be like come 10 o'clock since so many quality days with the correct wind have started out right off from sunrise.
With the rising tide, reaching high at 11:00 (2.1 meter), a new swell subtly filling in starting last night, and good winds starting up around 10:30...the day was looking real positive. And the sun was out in full force for once. The swell was getting down into Launching Pad...but really it was mini Pad and sending waves into upper Speedies. I didn't see any real high quality waves and took my chances betting that a different tide might be better. Money Trees was happening all day long and some quality Money Trees it was. Sets today were about 8 - 10 foot faces and really just a fun type of swell...nothing overly heavy for here. Not too many hollow waves compared to the past few days and it was nice to have that change up in character.
Kongs was not as quality with the wind bending around the point and coming in sideshore on and off through the day. A handful of crew went down to Tigertracks for a playful surf and came back happy...getting shoulder high waves, but a little sideshore there as well.
Everyone that has stayed in the camp knows that the kitchen staff does an amazing job at keeping up strong. Tonight, they served us a Fish Mustard Sauce dish with quartered-potatoes and veggies. Easily one of the better dinners I've had so far. Hope they serve it up before the season ends, but likely not since that's coming soon.
