October 18-19 2011

G-LAND ... No photos yet and the "legitimate" reason being was the internet had died again.  Obviously it's up but i'm not ready to load up the photos just yet.  But coming soon...

THE   18th     started off looking the same as the day before, but it wasn't gonna stay the same.  This swell has been significantly smaller on the lower tides, but smaller meaning still around double overhead.  That's been the nature of this swell and when the rising tide began its push over the reef and into the lagoon, some massive sets started to transmit its vibrational energy across the old limestone reef and through the bale i was sitting on out front.  The bombora has consistently been alive for 4 days up to this point...5 when you include the 19th.  One of the 3 biggest swells of 2011 for sure.  But you had to go somewhere else in Indonesia to find a well-formed wave at this size.

And so aside from a few individuals having a go out front today, everyone went down into the bay.  Chickens and 20's have been most everyone's saviours of wanting to ride this swell.  And the surf has actually been solid down there too.  Good winds and not many people out here at all.  Could have been amazing if G-Land can handle these beyond-ordinary swells.

THE   19th    has been the day so far of this swell.  And it's probably gonna be that way for this swell since the difference between the morning and the evening was real noticeable.  Sized dropped down to double overhead which is what we needed to get a cleaner, higher quality day compared to the past 4.  We had a collection of everything working.  The high of a 1.7 meter was enough to give us a couple hours downreef at Inside Launching Pad and upper Speedies.  Money Trees going off real nicely, peeling cleanly and a few hollow sections that really changed up the feeling from the big days we just went through.  Fan Palm was reeling off unridden.  Quality conditions today and everyone stoked to be here.

Pictures are coming soon!!!
