October 15th 2009

Today, middle of October, without a bang, comes my last G-Land Surf report for this year. I have spent the majority of 6 months here since May 1st, and what a great experience. Completely countless amounts of tubes, numerous mind-blowing ridiculously crazy barrels, perfect waves, overhead swells, super-fun days, heavy beatings, great food, peaceful sleeps, many new friends made... time well passed... good times!

Like I said, without a bang the waves were 2-3ft with an onshore breeze most of the day. I looked at it once briefly, but spent most of my day packing and tying up loose ends. Luckily it wasn't pumping or I wouldn't have got anything done. The past week though was an excellent way to end my trip, with some really nice Money Trees waves. Tonight I held a pool tournament which always gets the staff excited at a big prize pool, and the guests enjoy the social atmosphere and having a dig. We are yet to have a guest win, but there has been some very close times where guests have almost taken it out. Tonight Mr Jo, G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp carpenter, took it out after Superior Roomboy Matt accidently sunk the black ball to early!

So don't worry readers, my new wingman Michael Narchi will be here for the next month keeping you up to date everyday with the happenings of G-Land. Tomorrow morning I'm jumping on the fast boat back to Bali for 5 days, before going to Australia to stay with some friends for a week, and then on the last day of October I will reach my final destination of home sweet home in Taranaki, New Zealand.

From your long-time surf guide/surf reporter, this is Jarred Hancox signing out.
