G-LAND ... And the story continues with the same melody from the past 3 days. But since yesterday was the start of a new swell...well...the tune changed just a bit. BUT it was still such a beautiful day out here to be surfing. A new group came in and 90% of them came out for their 1st time. And it was one of the better days i could imagine for them to see. Significant waves at first site, but easily figured out that the waves were makeable and plenty hollow to get a mouthful of Money Trees.
Sets up to double overhead coming in. There were a few rouge sets today...really standing up on the bombora, not whitewatering, but making themselves known as to what they were and where they were going. Offshore, mid tides, and a clean well-formed swell hit everything from Kongs through lower Money Trees. I saw so many guys getting great looking barrels that it was really just a high to watch. That view upreef, the kind where you see the set coming in from way outside and know it's not coming to you so all there is to do is watch "the others" get it....that view was real pronounced today!!! Anticipation of the drop their dealing with and then quickly figuring out whether they need to slam down on the gas or enjoy the drawn out first turn was pretty cool to watch. The barreling sections that came if they read the wave correctly on the drop were some classic barrels for 13-14 second Money Trees. The Ledge was alive but only for those that could tap into the elusive peak. Cannot forget about Fan Palms and Kongs....everyone that surfed up upreef were so skin-stretched from grinning that it was only clear they got great waves!!!
