G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp guests got to experience a monsoon this morning! From 9 - 10am it rained buckets. It was gnarly. I happened to paddle out at 8:45am so I got to cop the whole thing on the head. Lucky for me just after 10 it stopped, and the squalling sideshore wind and rain backed off into a pleasant perfect light offshore, and there I was at Speedies getting perfect 3ft barrels to myself! Got shacked off my head...A Great little session in G-Land!
G-Land Surf was pretty fun for the rest of the day, with the dropping tide there were waves still up at Money Trees. Lifegaurd Ben even got some nice low tide stand up tubes on the Ledge. Tides are very high and very low right now, so many different parts of the reef lighting up at different times of the day. The swell was a solid 5ft early in the morning but from 8am onwards it was pretty much 3-4ft.
Perhaps all the rain this morning brings out different creatures. Right now outside my room there is about 100 frogs croaking away, they must have found a temporary puddle to reside in!
