G-LAND ... A little bit of rain and a little bit more of the South wind going on over here the past two days.  The conditions have still been good, but that little bit of difference in wind can make a big difference in wave quality.

May 1st was coming down off that big swell that showed up on the 27th of April, which ended up being longer-lived than what the computer was indicating.  Money's was real clean and nice from 3 until sunset and lining up with some clean, hollow sections.  Like I already wrote, the S wind was up earlier in the day, not destroying it, just keeping the waves from becoming what they ended up being through sunset.  Sets were still getting up to double-overhead on the good ones.  So what's that...27th, 28th, 29th, 30th, and the 1st...5 days of at least double-overhead.  BEAUTIFUL!!!

I headed down to Tigertracks and got a great reminder of how much FUN that peak can be.  Once the tide came up a bit and focused the wave energy on the inside mushroom-shaped reef...BANG...fun city was happening.  Mostly around chest to shoulder high but a few head-high sets coming through.

May 2nd arrived and with the sun rising off the forest canopy, so too did the swell.  Sets in the solid double-overhead range, sometimes a bit more.  A lot of hopes for a Speedies session.  Waves were running through there, but just not many setting up with quality form.  We needed the offshore to groom out the bump coming down from up-reef and also blend together the mixing swell.  It was WHAT IT WAS.

Money Trees was collecting the swell better than any other spot all day.  The Ledge came alive a bit as well when the tide dropped down into it's likeable level.  I saw a few well-ridden barrels and pretty stoked about the crowd too.

It would have been nice to have recieved the proper wind though.  No Complaints.  Just a nice thought!!!
