June 4th Thursday

Many guests ask me: "Jarred, what is the best tide to surf G-Land?". Well there is no straight answer to this. Everyday is different, and various sections of the reef work good on certain tide windows. Today I was lucky to score a brief tide window on the Fang, 4-5ft, offshore, with only a couple of us on it, and some thick tubes presented their open womb for me to thread! Even though I had a four hour surf through the afternoon, that 30 or so minutes of grinding Fang was for sure the highlight. Late in the day I seen Dave Davidson get an insanely deep tube, very impressive.

The rest of the day G-Land Surf did get a bit crowded at times, 30-40 guys late morning and late afternoon, with 4-5ft sets and the rogue 6ft set even. A touch lully at times, but otherwise a good day. The offshore was blowing strong after 10am.

One guest staying at G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp even said to me he caught the biggest wave of his life! It was almost double overhead, and coming from Brazil I guess he had been brought up on small beach breaks. Well stoked he caught a G-Land Money Trees grinder and achieved a goal for himself.
