G-Land was bombing through with even more swell today. A bit washed out through the morning with very few takers, the wind was light, and the sets were a solid 8-10ft. The offshore wind picked up about 11am, and by 1pm a bit more tide combined with a couple of hours of offshore winds and Money Trees really turned on the goods for about an hour and a half through the half tide.
G-Land Surf was the best during the early afternoon, then from 3pm onwards the swell seemed to pulse a little bit more and despite the high tide, it went a bit wonky, but still some great tides to be had. But in that early afternoon there were some big chunky barrels to be had. My 7'8 went like a dream again... if you have any doubts about riding a big board here, forget them, theres not been any floaters or off-the-tops being done in this swell!
I just got asked what is the best thing to do when you don't make the drop at big Money Trees? Well if there is more waves in the set then you are just gonna have to cop them on the head! If it is shallow and big foamballs coming at you, just throw the board and dive down a bit under the water and then just go with the flow of the ragdolling. Duckdiving big whitewaters at G-Land can be very dangerous. So if in doubt just throw the board. Better to break the legrope than get driven back into the reef! And you can still break a board duckdiving too. When the set calms down, you paddle hard and fast slightly towards your right to try get out the back away from the next set.
G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp guests are welcome to ask me questions anytime when they are here in camp, thats what I'm here for, I hope you come soon to G-Land 🙂
