G-Land was schhhhmokinnnnn' today!! The swell was bigger than yesterday, and there were consistent 6ft sets coming through, and even the odd 8fter! Offshore wind was up by 9am, and the camps aren't all that full right now, so the crowd wasn't too bad at all in the G-Land Surf. Although Launching Pads had about 20 guys hunting the set waves through the high tide, but the rest of the reef and the lower tide was hardly anyone!
I surfed from 9am till 1pm, and got some sick dredging barrels through wide speedies, some filthy pits up at Money Trees on the outgoing tide, and then 1 last set before the tide got too low at Speedies let me backdoor a thick shallow drainpipe and make it out (thankfully). Had another surf before dark on the low tide and had a go at 6ft mutant Ledge, but for the most of that quick surf I got flogged. Except my last wave, one of my longest G-Land waves, went from Mid Money Trees, all the way through the Fang, past Launching Pads, and through an unusual mellow wall of Speedies, until the 6ft start had become a 1ft dry reef thing at the start of Quiksilvers! Ha!
Apparently Tigertracks was super fun late morning, numerous G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp guests went down in the zodiac to go surf it. They all had a blast. What a day... I am zapped right now as I write this report... G-Land dished up the goods!
