G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp here I come again! Leaving past Kuta Reef it didn't look like much swell, only 2-3ft along here. Coming into G-Land a couple hours later was different though, the swells looked like they were grinding nicely down the reef.
After my big G-Land breakfast, I strolled down to the beach to see the offshore already had started, and some solid 5 or 6ft sets going down to the Speedies end of the reef. Although most of the waves were starting up at the Fang a bit more, so most people didn't make the sections through Speedies. Still, if you got the right one, you could have got shacked hard. Unfortunately with the high tide at 9pm, my 10:30am paddle out didn't time Speedies well, so I surfed Money Trees, which had some good ones, not that I got any though. Wasn't too crowded though, I was just cruising. Actually got a lil bit cold in my Spring Suit, the water seems to be about 20 degrees right now!
In the afternoon I had a great 2 hour sleep, then it was 4:30pm, I decided to run out and try catch a couple before the 5:30pm compulsory paddle in before dark time. Had a half hour sesh, and first wave I got absolutely annihilated on low tide Ledge trying to take a late drop. Long as hold down and hit my knee on the reef, bad start! Next wave free fall into a gaping pit and come out ... made it worth it I guess! Another G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp guest went to duckdive, and the tide was so low that his fingers hit the coral as he pushed his board down, and got some nasty cuts on them. Numerous broken boards today also... it wasn't such a friendly day out there, G-Land was dishing out some punishments!
