The infamous G-Land mist was in force early this morning. 6am, super low tide, could see most of the reef, but the waves had a thick blanket of fog over them. Was hard to tell how big it was, but I guessed 2-3ft. I was pretty spot on. After a solid breakfast of 3pc toast, 2 poached eggs with avocado, onion & tomato, fruit salad, coffee, fruit juice and porridge, I ended up out Kongs and Fan Palm by 8:30. Wind was light south all morning, with the tide high. Waves were heaps funner than I expected. Heaps of waves coming through that were head high, and really rippable sections.
There was hardly anyone out too. Until the boat babies from the other camp started to plague the line-up. Horrible to have one's surf interrupted by 8 boat babies coming out in a zodiac and getting dropped off just past where I'm sitting, so that I get a dirty boat wake through the next set. Well I don't let it get to me like I used to, what can one do? So I just kept surfing and enjoying the hot doggy conditions.
After lunch went back out on the mid tide and got some great waves at Fan Palm, the wind went really clean for a window there too. Was even a few 4ft sets! The water is definitely on the rise in temperature thankfully. Wore my springy both surfs today and definitely didn't need any more than that, although I was keeping active and we didn't get a proper offshore today...
