A roaring swell was heard throughout G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp in the night. First couple of hours of light proved hard to judge the size, as there was a haze across the ocean. Also it was real cold at 6am! Had hoody, shoes/socks, and jeans on, and I was just right. But either way, it was easy to see there was some big swells coming down the point and going all the way down Speedies.

Unfortunately today we didn't get the perfect winds like we had yesterday 🙁  So it was left pretty raw through the day. Big sets 10ft + were breaking on Launching Pad and beyond, and a lot of those big sets were not ridden, or if they were then we were belly boarding the foamball shoulder until it was safe to stand up, then wait for the double up into Speedies. The wind being basically straight South the whole high tide never did much justice for the swell. Of course there were some big barrels to be had here and there due to the nature of Speedies in a big south swell.

Mikala Jones got a filth one, Makua Rothman probably took the gnarliest one - stalling deep at the Cobra into an 8ft double up, SO DEEP in the tube, he reckons he seen coral underneath him when the wave was cracking onto the reef. He didn't make it, and luckily popped up straight out the back. His lil brother Koa got some good pits too. Kimbo the Joyo's Yoga man had plenty shacks, Daniel Vardy took the cake for the goofy's getting a freakin epic long super deep 6ft shack across the Speed reef. And for the big boys, Dawson Tamati, my bro from Taranaki, NZ, got a big monster perfect shack near the end of the session. There's some pretty sick shots floating around from today, I just haven't got my hands on too many yet, but I'll chuck some stuff up on this report from my vid cam.

20-20's and Chickens had waves for those who didn't want to surf out the front. 2-3ft and fun was the reports down there. Ahhh forgot to mention: The water was freezing today! Cold patches everywhere. 2mm steamer was perfect! And the current, damn... so much current today! Everyone who surfed today has sore arms.

Tonight we had Independence Day games, where guests and staff competed in the restaurant for prizes that included crates of Bintang and T-Shirts with Independence Day and Bobby's insignia on them. Games included racing with a spoon in mouth and a marble on the spoon, fishing a Bintang bottle off the ground with a fishing rod, string and toothpick, and a 'speed billiards' tournament.

There's always some mutant double ups on a macking South Swell...

Daniel Vardy on possibly the best made barrel today! He got way deeper than this too, I am just putting a frame grab of being able to still see his board

I managed to get a couple too

Bit of carnage on the Launching Pad!

Staff and Guests compete in the Racing with marble in spoon in mouth race. Prizes included Bintangs and T-Shirts. A guest won this event here and got 2 crates of Bintang!
