G-LAND ... That forecasted swell was running the reef at dawn. A new swell and the hopes of good winds unfortunately didn't live long at all this morning, getting smashed pretty quickly by that cool onshore flow. By about 7:30, the glassy waters started to churn up some bumps and by 9 o'clock, it was full-on onshore! But what a nice looking swell. The guys that got on the dawn patrol were smart, easily enjoying a smooth-surfaced ride down big spans of reef. It was a nice enough angle to run the reef well, even with the onshore. So i was just imagining what it would be like with proper offshores. And in the daydream, that which i do really well, would you believe it started to go offshore. It was a long daydreaming session, like 3 hours of it, but come noon and there were the 1st signs of jungle-borne winds. And no long afterwards was the cleansing effect of the offshore winds on all those unwanted lumps. It smoothed out really nicely and with the flip of the tide being at noon, the late afternoon session was looking real promising.
I went on a moto ride down into the Bay to have a look at everything, roasting in the sun most of the time, so decided to take a short nap after my return and after a quick lunch to source up some energy for the late-afternoon session, but like an IdIot, i slept straight past sunset and missed a really fun looking session at Inside Launching Pad into Upper Speedies. Just saw some photos that Norris shot. Dave ended up doing the same thing i did. Oh well....
