G-LAND ... Still rallying some goodness around the point. Everyone was on a high through last nights Gandrung Party and pretty much everyone seemed to be in the same good spirits, even from the late night partying. And if they weren't, the look of the surf would lift 'em up outta their haze. Still really fun today and breaking even bigger through the 1st half of the day for sure. Some double overhead sets running the reef and by the time good winds were grooming up the faces at 9 o'clock, they were staying plenty hollow. Some Launching Pad into Speedies 1st section was standard. Moneytrees right up through Kongs working as well. Tigertracks would've been fun today, especially since the tide was in it's favor today.
The swell did noticeably back down after midday, but some fun 8-10 foot faces running Moneytrees and even a few sets standing up on the Ledge. But it went pretty inconsistent by this point in time. I would constantly be shifting around trying to sit in the warm patches of water and fortunately they weren't too tough to find.
Allan the boat captain, has been catching lots of tengirri lately. Yesterday he hooked up 5 solid fish, maybe 4 days ago he pulled 2 in, another 1, the most solid so far (26 kg.) a couple of days before. He's been on it and the mornings must feel like he's lived a full day by the time he lands ashore by 8 o'clock!!!
And so we've been eating lots of good fish lately....
