G-LAND ... WOW!!! Still been continually happening out here at G-Land. New swell smashed into the point on the morning of the 9th and didn't let up too much today as well. The 8th is too far back to remember for me now. My brain is pretty much focused on these past two days. We didn't get the clean conditions to make it classic, but there were some very powerful waves nonetheless, even with the stiff offshores that were blowing. It was like the typical claim "raw swell on the first day when it jumps up fast." But that lasted 2 days instead. Got the best (or worst) beating yesterday on my first wave but tried to maintain after it and keep on the search for a good one. Pretty tough on the selection that we had to choose from, but it was really exciting. Dave Junior ended up getting a very clean and proper wave through Speedies and a few other guys did too. Most all the other one's were meat grinders. But Moneytrees was lining up all day and not many people on it since the hopeful pack hung on the Pad.
And Chickens, 20-20's, right on through Tigertracks kept everyone happy that opted to avoid the mayhem out front. Supposedly there were some almost double overhead waves down at 20's....that should give you a reference for how bit it was out front. But here's the truth about it so it's known...a lot of waves setting up at the Pad never did anything through Speedies. They just opened up wide back out into Grajagan Bay and that was it. The one's that connected through, albeit rare, those hit with some power. 1.9 meter high and although it was enough water on the reef, it changes the intensity of the reefbounce a lot. It blasts in every direction all the more intensely. No one got hurt...don't even think there was a busted board. Just a handlful of popped leashes.
Excising days out here!!!
