G-LAND ...   I have to put these days together for sure.  In fact, tomorrow will hopefully be a part of the grouping as well.  New swell came in on the 14th and it was such a radically different atmosphere along the reef comparing it with the last swell.  Last swell was from 226 degrees shifting to 222 degrees.  Basically a true SW swell.  And it was focusing on the upper sections of G-Land like you'd think it would.  I was actually surprised by how much action Moneytrees was getting from that last swell, but the Ledge, Fan Palms, and Kongs were non-stop consistent.

This new swell was coming to us from 202 degrees...that being a true SSW swell...minus the 0.5 degrees.  And what breaks with more S in the swell definitely did.  I wrote a couple days ago about there being a little kink in the whole scenario forecasted for this swell.  That kink was the tides.  The 14th had a dawn high of 2.0...triple 0.9's from 10-12 o'clock and a 1.5 meter high at dusk.  Today was almost the same, just a little higher at dawn and a little lower at dusk which accounts for the movement expected with this waning moon.

But there was no sign of a kink at all.  Late afternoon session on the 14th was all good with the tide.  Plenty of swell focusing in down at Speedies and some how, the tides just seemed higher than what the chart was showing.  The morning of the 15th was unexpected and unreal.  Offshores blowing from dawn onwards and with the 2.1 meter tide, plenty of water.  High quality Speed Reef just grinding along with not many takers at all.  I saw it happening the day before and easily thought setting an alarm was warranted.  5 AM buzz but i wasn't able to change from horizontal to vertical until 6:30.   I got problems with early mornings cause i never have early nights!!!   So by the time i was looking at, i just didn't have enough time to surf before the transfer would happen.  I was feeling pretty depressed about the scenario cause i've actually never seen an early morning Speedies session like this.  And since yesterday was my first proper day back in the water, i was actually missing out.  But i got over it and made sure i wasn't gonna miss the afternoon session.  And as the beauty of this place normally shows itself, i got to surf for a little time with not 1 person in the water along the entire reef.  Slowly the other guys made it out and the session was on!!!

I'll post up some photos tomorrow...or soon enough....
