G-LAND ... The baton got passed back over, Jarred heading back over to Bali and me coming back into camp after a real quick trip to the Island of the Gods. And god it's a scene there. I partied once down in town last season and zero times this season...don't feel like i'm missing out on it either.
So the boat ride over was smooth. No bump really at all and not much of a sign that swell was in the water. As we got closer to Cape Blambangan, i could start to see figures of people forming in the distant view. Then i noticed the mother ships floating further outside of the reef and knew exactly what they were. It was small enough that the octopi warriors from Madura were lulling in the surf at the tip of this swell magnifying point in their short, narrow, pygmied alma dug-outs. There was nothing...no surf at all. But the tide was real low. Buzy had to cut through the slalom course they unintentionally set up, or maybe he just wanted to play with them since the G-Land Express has a boat wake tall enough to fill 'em up. He could have easily gone around them all.
I was surprised to see a few people out surfing Kongs. Not sure if they could actually catching anything. Came into camp with 4 other guests. Masato and Hirome Kato, their friend Toru, and Dutchy Bart. Took care of a few things and finally by about 4 o'clock, went out for a paddle on the stand-up. I'm starting to enjoy it more, just for the scenery. Can't say i'm into the surfing aspect of it yet, but cruisin' in the lagoon or through the line-up is nice. Caught a couple thigh high waves and that was it. Beautiful sunset, lighting up the clouds and the water receiving the bounce from them. It was a peaceful end to an already peaceful day.
