G-LAND ... So it's been consistently a bit funky out here the past few days. Winds have been swinging around from the W and S...not really going offshore too much and when it does, it's late in the day. But it is going off so that's a positive thing. The swell has had some size (8-12 foot faces again today), but lines have been a bit cut-up and sectioned so without the real good wind to groom out the lumps and hold them back....well...it puts up a good challenge to make it around those sections. But there are always a few real high quality waves that come through for those lucky surfers.
Those jets I wrote about before are from Australia and they're supposedly part of some international joint-forces training deal between 5 countries. Two pilots came back today and buzzed around us like envious little kids. These guys for sure had to be surfers. Just before they hyperspaced back to Bali, there was a radical display of them ruffling their feathers. Burning up the point from 20-2o's at about 100 feet over us, they made an almost 90 degree turn straight up right on the Money Tree pack and really pumped massive amounts of gas into the engines. I had to plug my ears up until they were way up in the distance. I got the feeling that as exciting as it must be having the controls of those fighter jets, they wanted to be riding waves at G-Land instead.
