G-LAND ... It was another day that a little bit of patience was called for. The day started off with a dense, super humid fog that shielded the view of the surf. And from the stories, shielded the few surfers out there from seeing the sets. As it burned off with the rising sun, the ocean breeze kicked in pretty good and it didn't really look like the day was gonna be to promising. No matter what, the 2nd part of the day had to come. But if you wrote off the day as a dry-day early on, then it was easy to miss the 2-3 hour window of decent lining up Money Trees and shallow Inside Pad into upper Speedies. Sets were about 8-12 foot faces and the wind never blew consistently offshore, mostly outta the South.
Not so many hollow waves coming through, but a few really long walls...some like 350 yards running through Moneys. Inside Pad was distinctly standing up and bowling down the line, but the bowls were tough to get a barrel well set-up. Still there were some real exciting looking waves peeling off below sea level.
So you're prepared, eventhough the water is MAYBE slowly beginning to warm back up, bringing some rubber out here is still a good idea. A 1 mm jacket would be good...even better a 1.5 mm jacket. Lot's of spring suits in the water and I've been using a 2mm short arm full where the most i would ever use in the past is a vest. The rubber is real comfortable to have, even more since we've been getting jellyfish in the line-up.
