G-Land was not too bad again today! Light offshore in the morning and clean 3-5ft Money Trees... However upon Dawn it was bombing much bigger, maybe 6ft! So through the morning was perhaps the smallest, but then 11am onwards some really nice sets were hitting all the way down the reef, mostly still in the 3-5ft range, but right down to Speedies on a few. Plenty of people getting a few fun tubes on mini Speed reef. Wind was reasonably strong for the bulk of the mid day, and the water was a bit chilly I thought. Definitely would want a spring suit to be comfortable. Or some sort of rubber.
I tried my GoPro tail mount pole again on my big 7'8, it handled a few wipeouts but then later in the surf I got caught on the inside, top to bottom waves smashing me, board snapped! Uhh!! The project is back on the drawing board, but its getting better each time.
Went back out surfing again late in the day, and got a few bombs. The swell jacked thru the arvo, and there was some solid 6ft+ sets coming through! Stood on a sea urchin on the way in - tide was so low - and took 30min to get it dug out. Ouch!! So a few misfortunes today, but I'm still in one piece, and the 7'8 I snapped had already been snapped twice, so it was on borrowed time one could say.
Tonight some of the guests let off some of big fireworks! It was impressive brief time at the beach, some big bangs and explosions...
