G-Land gave us a sign this morning that August could just be a really nice month of waves. 4-5ft sets coming through with an offshore up not long after dawn already! It maintained this size most of the day, with the odd 6fter here and there. Crowd peaked on the incoming tide mid-late morning, and apart from that it was very uncrowded - another sign of August to come?? Bagus!
Swell was 220 degrees, so a lot of the waves were at Fan Palm and Upper Money Trees. I wouldn't call it an epic day at all, but there was definitely plenty of fun waves. I went out at lunch time and there was hardly anyone out! Had my 7'8 with a 60cm fiberglass pole erected from the tail via a Future Fin box/fin with the pole screwed into the fin. The angle was insane! Unfortunately by my 3rd wave the whole thing ripped out of the board and that was that. So... gonna get it chopped down a bit and the box reglassed in and hopefully it don't smash out again.
Surfed again on the 0.1m tide late afternoon on the Ledge. Didn't get any keepers but got some nice tubes, and some nice tube time in some ones I didn't make, as seen below with the GoPro Wrist Mount...
