G-Land became a whole new wave today! After a couple weeks of really west swells, the swell came through today from quite a south quadrant, and boy oh boy there were some beauties running down the reef. Sure I've surfed it a lot bigger and better, but today there were some very nice waves in the 3-5ft range! When the sets came they were head and a half high, and there were barrels galore! Wide Money Trees, hoop throwers, inside Pad, Speedies, all sections that have been relatively dormant for weeks, were lighting up on this lil south pulse of swell. Offshore winds all day mean't barrels all day, and then late afternoon people seemed to be fitting in a lot of turns on the lower tide Money Trees section.

Camp is pretty full right now, changeover day was this morning and more people came than left. A lot of new faces today and no doubt they were all fizzing to sample the world class G-Land lefts. Crowds? Yes, it was crowded late morning! A lot of punters scattered down Money Trees... however before the late morning and for most of the afternoon the crowd was minimal and that was just fine if you happened to be out at those times. One of my first waves I got 3 barrels - not uncommon to see such a thing today when someone got a smoker. Anthony King must have got 50 barrels today, he was out all morning and then afternoon again, getting shacked on near every wave. Feasting himself on tube after tube.

On the high tide there was a Speedies pulse, and the photo below was a little wide Speedies one I snagged. Only 2ft but as hollow as it was high nearly! Dave Thomas captured some awesome shots today so hopefully I can get some of his pictures up in the near future to truly show how some of the waves were.
