G-LAND ... Woke up real quickly at about 5 in the AM cause the rain slapping the ceramic roof tiles of my hut sounded like a battalion of monkeys slaying each other up there. Back up again at around 6 since it was transport day and a big crew was coming in. Still dumping real well by the time I put my jacket on.
A few of the insomniacs here...Indonesia has plenty of them, in case you didn't know this -- for example -- on a through-the-night road trip somewhere over here where terang bulan vendors, night markets, and street walkers are seen all the time when you slip through anything larger than a local village... SO MY POINT IS that supposedly it was raining from about 3. The jungle got saturated once again.
Kimbo and his group...about 21 of them...made it into camp today. And Brett came in with the crew too. He'll be out here through the end of June, so he'll be writing up the reports too. Tomorrow we're having the inaugurating ceremony of the PPPK (aka. Kimbo's Clinic) tailed by a demonstration of some life saving techniques. I'm sure I'll be learning some useful...hopefully never used...but useful info and techniques.
So we're at 50 guests now. Pretty sure the most we've had in camp this season. But the other camps are still quiet, so the crowd in the water can't really be considered a crowd at all.
New swell filled in today and some sets getting up to double overhead...especially up at Kongs. Swell was coming from 220 degrees, meaning not much breaking down into Money Trees. The Ledge came alive for a short performance and a few...not many...just a few real nice waves peaking up and tubing down the line.
It could have been real high quality BUT we never got the offshores today. Maybe just a few short puffs, but mostly outta the W and S. Fortunately though, it never got too strong so the bump was minor. And then there were those times when the wind went still. Real fun and real clean. Beautiful looking and feeling water too!!!
