G-LAND ... INTERNET IS BACK UP!!! These past two days out here may likely be what I needed to feel strongly about where the seasonal shift is at. Both mornings started out with a bright blue sky straight up above Grajagan Bay and that distinctive atmospheric haze that subtly whites-out the detail of the land across from us was steaming up the view.
April 19th was proper offshore and with a little increase in the swell from the day before, we were getting 10-14 foot faces at Money Trees. The form was real nice, but just not loading up with enough energy to throw over and out. There were some barrels, but I saw many many waves with sections that "KOO-DAH-BEEN. " Just needed to recognize that early and keep your speed up to swoop around them. And as the ebb tide started reaching its bottom, the Ledge starting showing some real gnarly mutants. Maybe 1 in every 20 waves was quality...all the others real thick and lock. Not one person was surfing it!!! Kongs and Tigertracks were naturally working, and allegedly real fun too.
April 20th dropped off a bit...BUT...the swell was getting further down the line. Speedies breaking in the head-high range and running pretty quick. Not too hollow, but sucking water off the reef enough to let you know where you are at. Money Trees getting a few nice sets maxing out at about 10 foot faces and lining up for a few hundred yards. VERY NICE!!! Getting into the later afternoon, and not too much happening out front anymore. The swell seemed to get sucked right up into Kongs with the outgoing tide. 0.1 meter bottom just before sunset.
Back to my initial thought from up top...the beautiful heron's that roost and hunt in the lagoon are starting to court each other. So they must sense something much stronger than me. But JUST as I'm writing this, the cracking thunder of rain went off. Well, either way it's still offshore right now....just checked it to be sure!!!
