2011 Season Opening Letter

G-LAND RIDERS....WELCOME!!!

Our 2011 Season has begun!!!  The camp is now open and ready to house another beautiful opportunity to experience Alas Purwo National Park and the rare collection of forces that make G-Land come alive.  So far, we've had only a few, early season optimists.  Hopeful souls trying to get that select window of good conditions to experience truly uncrowded G-Land.  And with each passing day, time undoubtedly unfolds the reality that we are getting closer and closer to that window opening up wide.

Up until now, the conditions have been typical wet season climate patterns, but if you've been monitoring the weather reports, you'll see that the East winds are beginning to show its presence and the low latitude storm centers are subtly shifting northward, both very positive indicators.

To give you the knowledge of what's been going on at camp during the offseason, here's a quick rundown of the projects we've been putting our energy towards.   As in the past, the intention has been to slowly, but steadily improve upon the functional needs for camp operations, as well as your comforts within a healthy camp environment. The projects include: completion of the first aid post, stocked with western manufactured medicines and tools; a new German engineered and manufactured, ‘super-silent” diesel generator which is better for all the animals in the area (we have plans to bequeath our older generator to our westerly neighbor, G-Land Surf Camp, to cut down on the background noise in Superior); a complete rebuild of the staff living quarters; hull re-fabrication of our Bali-Java-Bali fast-boat to improve it’s cutting capabilities; new camp dingy and engine; a collection of proper, stand-up paddleboards; several new sets of snorkel gear courtesy of Aqualung; upgraded entertainment area with a foosball table and tournament-size billiard table; doubling-up on the internet connection’s bandwidth; Deluxe Bungalows repositioned to face Northeast rather than Northwest, better capturing the morning light; continued renovations of the 3 Standard communal bathrooms; upgrading the Budget Accommodations; and lastly, our kitchen staff expanding their culinary palette in Bali during this off-season.

A lot has been going on and we can only hope that you will appreciate our efforts to evolve The Camp through the coming of each new season. As always, the staff on Bali are there to get you set up for your trip and the staff on Java will be waiting for you with open arms and that special “WELCOME BACK” or “WELCOME HOME.”  Definitely keep this in mind if you’re flying into Denpasar INTERNATIONAL: we can arrange our agent to meet you at the gate to expedite the immigration and customs process.  Just let the office know when you’re setting up your trip that you’d like the VIP Airport Service.

We hope this reaches you in great spirits and looking forward to being part of another memorable experience.

Sincerely,
the Staff & Management at G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp
