G-LAND ... with 3 guests going out early this morning, that leaves Aussies Craig and Anebel as the remaining surfers. They'll be heading out at sunset on the 19th...and so...the camp will be closing up for the season. We're already down to a real light crew, with about 7 staff left so the feeling is already here.
Swell backed off from yesterday, but we still got well overhead sets (8-10 foot faces) in the morning, then pulling back to about 8 foot faces by sunset. Winds were actually a little bit off early in the day, swinging around from the N to the W and back. But by about 1:00, nice offshores kicked in and naturally, it cleaned up real smooth.
And once again the whole length of the reef was working. Inside Launching Pad into Upper Speedies was the best since the swell's power backed off with the decrease in period, so at least it was maximized down there. Money Trees and Kongs were good, but just a little weak. Still nice though!
A couple of sailboats (one from Bali for sure) have shown up here, probably knowing that this is the time to be here for them. During peak season, they wouldn't be able to anchor for more than 1 night. Good for them!!! It's got to feel real special to anchor off this reef and watch the changing conditions from the line-up. I'd imagine they'd be on it when it's best.
