G-LAND ... real classic weather conditions today. Rich blue skies framed above Grajagan Bay, low clouds wrapping about the volcanoes and coastline opposite us, and that subtle water texture pushing over the lagoon towards the waves. Morning time surf picked up from yesterday and really set up some "good-fun" conditions for the day. Sets were standing up from Kongs through Fan Palms. The Ledge and Upper Moneys were getting waves too, but for sure much more inconsistently.
The prime sets coming through were 8-10 foot faces and real clean. Kongs was handling the swell angle best, letting the walls stand up but not run to fast. Down reef at theLedge and Upper Moneys...it was fast! A good challenge to make some of them, but with the clean faces and offshores, they were doable.
Something to let you in on...yesterday, a friend from The States was snorkeling with his friend and "allegedly" saw a 20-foot whale shark off of Speedies. That's amazing!!! Lately, I've been seeing a good number of turtles and the resident dugong on my dives, plus lots of fish so maybe that's a sign that more marine life is returning to the bay. But a whale shark would make me cinch up and probably lose 5 minutes off the end of my life if I saw one...naturally until I realized it was a shark that doesn't eat meat.
