G-Land : What a day!! I had one of my most special sessions of the season late this afternoon, it really made my day. Low tide incoming, last hour of the day, the crowd all sitting up at Ledge & Fan Palm, and 4-6ft bombs coming down to Money Trees, all to myself?!?! And they were kegging hard... getting 2-3 tubes per wave, and my last wave a solid 6ft bomb - biggest wave I seen at the Tree all day, came through, I free fell on to the rail, and deep into a big pit, my 6'7 quad fin set-up did its thing and I emerged. Stoked...
Even the late morning surf was super fun, the swell was up to 3-4ft with the odd 5fter up reef, and I was one of the only ones along the high tide stretch of mid to lower Money Trees, while the crowd stayed up reef. One wave got 4 tubes on! And the others just super fun lil barrels and turns, on my 6'1.
Just had to get all that off my chest... haven't had a great day like this for awhile now... There were so many peeling waves along the reef along the higher tide, actually all day long. I was expecting a good Ledge session on the 0.3m low tide, but that never really happened. Couple sets broke on the bombie on that low tide, but the swell wasn't big enough to create any annoying currents thankfully. Really west this swell, but those who think west swells are not very good, well today contradicted that totally!
Tonight is full moon, and in tradition of the full moon we have a Gandrung dance party, featuring a local Banyuwangi band, dancers and singers. There's definitely some cute local ladies in this group, and all the guests are welcome to dance with them. In saying that I better go prepare for my dance moves.
