G-Land has finally calmed down somewhat today, it was a mellow 2-3ft all day, and anybody that felt threatened by the dangerous thick grinding shallow barreling waves of the past few days got to go out and have a play without worrying about getting thumped.
G-Land Surf was offshore all day from 9am onwards, and a high tide around 11am. One of G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp guests, 'The Silver Surfer' also from Murrimbula, Australia, decided that having conquered all their was to be at 20/20s, he proceeded to paddle out to Speed Reef. Apparently the Silver Surfer's son, who happens to have a gnarly set of choppers on his face, said that Dad smoked 300 cigerattes before paddling out, at which time he had one in his mouth whilst paddling. After an hour of charging the shallow dredging Speedies, he wanted more, but it was time for another cigarette. Go the Silver Surfer!
I just purchased a Motocross Bike today, so I can cruise around the jungle tracks on it. I checked Kongs at about 5pm, and it was actually pumping on the low tide, head high sets, perfect light offshore, and hardly anyone out.. I must say August has been unusually uncrowded so far!
