24th July Friday

G-Land received a heavy downpour in the wee hours of the morning. I awoke about 1am to it raining cats and dogs on my roof (Or more appropriately said perhaps 'raining monkeys and pigs' lol). Had to put Blu-Tak in my ears to muffle the noise! It was trip day this morning, and about 22 people left and 20 came to G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp.

G-Land Surf was variable wind until 10am, then it went offshore, and the waves were mostly 3ft with the odd 4ft set. A nice introduction day for the new guests. I surfed late afternoon on a 0.0m tide, the lowest of the year! Money Trees to myself, the pack was on the Ledge which only had a few good ones. The waves were breaking quite close to the reef where I sat though, and one barrel I didn't make and nearly scalped myself, luckily I had my arms around my head and my shoulder and arm took the brunt of the hit. My shoulder was protected from my wetsuit thankfully. Next time I'll wear my helmet out in such conditions. Infact yesterday I wore my helmet at Speedies, it can be good for there too. Don't hesitate to bring a Gath helmet here!

Speaking of wetsuit, the water has got chillier - like 20-22degrees Celcius. I wore my 2mm Short Arm/Long Legs XCEL wetsuit. XCEL suits are great here, as they have alot of flexibility, comfort, and warmth.

G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp has currently got 4 family's staying right now, so there are lots of young kids around at the moment having fun in G-Land, while the wives relax and enjoy the peaceful jungle. Also numerous couples. The kids have been frothing over Tigertracks and 20/20's the past few days, getting to surf head high + waves (they are only 4-5ft in height these kids haha). Even Kongs has had some sessions for them too. The staff all enjoy the kids being here, Blacky is one of the kids favourite friends here. Blacky and the other staff all love playing Ping Pong and taking them surfing down at the smaller waves near our camp.

So if your thinking of coming to G-Land and you have a family... bring them along too! They don't need to hang in Bali while you sneak over to G-Land. No longer is G-Land a man-only fest, G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp caters very well for familys and couples too.
