G-Land Surf Camp guests had a great day of waves today. The new swell was 3-5ft on the sets. The wind was variable all morning, but despite the crumble on the wave, there were some good rides to be had. Then at lunch time it went offshore for the day and everyone was stoked. Fan Palms had some smokers on the low tide, and a couple fun peaks on the Ledge. A nice day in G-Land.
The G-Land Surf claimed a few fibreglass casualty's today. Nusa Dua regular Barry decided to pull into a thick double up section at the end of his Fan Palm ride on a solid 5fter. While the entry was wide enough to allow his 9ft malibu to get in, the exit was not apparent. Now he has 2 x 4.5ft boards. Also a couple of the boys in the Budget block came in with some budget looking halves after falling victim to the low tide board snapping lips.
G-Land is a very powerful wave at times, and you need to have your boards glassed very strongly to stand a chance. Epoxy type boards are good too. I ride Keahana epoxy boards that look and feel like a magic polyester board but have the strength of the strongest epoxy board, these withstand some serious G-Land Surf hammerings!
