G-Land still produced some really good quality waves again today. Wasn’t expecting much so it was a nice surprise. The direction was really good for Kongs, Money Trees was a little fast and sectiony but if you got the right one it was glassy walls of magic, solid 4ft later in the day.
There was a good little pulse so I’m hoping G-Land will produce some more walls of quality. The crowd here is very minimal and we’re all having a great time.
The other camps in G-Land are very empty. Kimbo has even cancelled his yoga session tomorrow morning at Joyo’s because there’ll be nobody there. Spewin =)

G-land was quite relaxing today. A few people went surfing but I decided to just take it easy. It was 2ft max and very inconsistent, nobody came out looking like they had fun. I started the day off with yoga and then read until lunch. Had a nap after lunch and then read a little more.
We have a big changeover tomorrow so I had a few drinks with the guys that are leaving G-Land and we feasted on some great food from the buffet.
Swell was supposed to hit G-Land today so hopefully it’s just late and hits us tomorrow.

G-Land was very relaxing today. A few people took their boards for a paddle to beat the bordem and a few were giving money to the local ladies and getting massages relaxing down the beach.
I did a yoga session this morning at Joyo’s camp to stretch my sore muscles out. There is alot of paddling in G-Land and it is nice to have a stretch now and again.
After lunch I went fishing up to the key hole way up past Kongs. It took us about an hour to get there and none of us got any fish. The fishing in G-Land has been a little average this season, the spear fishermen have been doing the best. I will have to walk up there again and take some photos. The coal barge has split in two and the coal is all over the beach. It’s such a big barge and it’s just sitting high and dry on the reef at low tide.

G-Land still hasn’t picked up. Kimbo and I went through some of the first aid gear he has left here for the camp and taught a few of the lifeguards some different techniques on spinal and broken leg injuries. We have alot of great gear thanks to him! The first aid clinic is starting to get some progress done and should be done by the time quiksilver get here.
Dayna has been giving free yoga lessons down at Joyo’s and a few of the boys participated this morning, it’s so hot but it limbers you up nice for a surf.
I didn’t head out til 3p.m but got some really nice ones. The guys that surfed earlier said the waves were better this arvo than earlier today with some more push and better shape so hopefully that’s a sign the swell is gonna be here tomorrow. Still 3 ft but I want some juice and I feel I’m not the only one. Third birthday this week but happy birthday to Putu!

G-Land backed way off and it was a perfect day to do something else other than surf. The weather was nice and cool with the light cloud cover and it really didn’t rain except for a light drizzle right at sunset. Surf was about shoulder to head high and fairly weak “looking!” There were a few waves running down the line at Speedies and Kongs had some 2-3 wave sets, but most everyone stayed on land today.
A few guys went out early for a troll up around the point (the coal barge is still on the reef) and came back with 3 nice tengirri’s…which were delicious at dinner, sashimi style and grilled. Yoga down at Joyo’s has been a nice option to loosen up the body and Dana is doing a great job accomodating us at keeping things simple. A group of new guests set up a slack line right in front and that’s been fun to try and walk across. Great for balance and trying to stay focused. I started up on some backed up ding repair. Walks up the point, pool, pong, chess, naps, music ….whatever else one can come up with to pass the time.
Just as a reminder from my last post on April 2010, Quiksilver will be holding an event here called the Rising Up of G-Land (not a contest) during 6th through the 13th of June. Bobby’s camp, along with the other camps will be closed for normal, guest operations. So hopefully this isn’t an conflict with your plans or hopes to be here.

G-Land Surf was more solid than I expected when I walked down in the morning to check it, the bommy was breaking and a perfect trade was blowing, low tide, nobody out (this was 7:30am) and 6ft double up sets cracking off the Ledge into Money Trees! If I was out of bed earlier I could have been a bit more on to that.
Anyway, after my hearty G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp (more…)

A pretty cruisy day for all in G-Land. The waves were 2-3ft, glassy early then offshores all day. Kongs had some nice long rides, and on the high tide a few crew were getting small sucky waves along Money Trees.
I took it easy most of the day, until 2pm when I decided to (more…)

Considering G-Land is one of the best waves in the world and the camps are cheaply priced, I am very surprised at the low numbers of surfers on the point right now in August, with a set of New Moon Tides and 2 south swells during these tides! Is it the economic recession? Whatever it is, surfers that have been here in August have been scoring the most uncrowded month of this whole season!
G-land Surf today was 3-4ft all morning, glassy early, (more…)

G-Land Surf today just wasn’t what it could have been. The new swell came through, solid 4-6ft sets through the morning, and some slightly bigger ones in the afternoon. There was no problem with this swell, the problem was a proper tradewind never turned up! So all through the morning, the Southwest sideshore just got stronger, and then in the afternoon it went a bit more South, but the waves were still sectiony and not barreling well at all. Although there were some great wally waves to be had through Money Trees all day long.
A huge frothing crew turned up at another camp today, so the (more…)

G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp had so many people leaving on our fast boat this morning that we had to use our G-Land to Grajagan boat as an additional boat to go to Bali! Had a few less people come than go due to the receding tides, but the camp still has over 40 people. The line-up today was considerably less crowded than its been all week too.
G-Land Surf line-up was 2-3ft all day, (more…)
