G-Land keeps on giving us all really good-fun waves. The point was not lighting up like it can, but it sure was setting up some really long rides up the reef at Kong’s and Fan Palms. Set’s were maxing at about 10 foot faces and pretty consistent. Plenty of pulses that would last for 25 minutes and spread everyone out….but not too many people to spread out in the first place.
Fan Palms was real nice. Overhead sets coming through and holding up a beautiful transition to carve on. Ever so rarely, one would come through and barrel and those are always a great surprise since you’re not really expecting a barrel there.
I paddled out at the keyhole and went way up reef on a unridden 6’2″ fish that carries about the same amount of volume as an 8’6″ gun. Great day to see how it felt and great board to ride down the line on a few waves that ran for 400 yards. Not much effort to make it through those flatter sections.
Wind was good today once again. Still giving thanks for that!!!

G-Land stormed once again through the morning. My thought on that is that the jungle is only going to get greener….it’s already amazingly lush. The surf conditions out front were pretty difficult to get inspired by since the wind direction was still out of the west and north, not ideal for G-Land.
So, it was time to rally up a hopeful crew to head down the point to check out the situation at 20-20′s and Tigertracks. 20′s was small and looking like chocolate milk from the purged rivermouth embankment. Tigertracks had enough to get me and a few other guests in the water, but the session didn’t last too long because of the quickly dropping tide. But the clouds had parted and the sky was spotted with blue so it was beautiful to hang on the beach and roll around in the little shorebreak.
I would have to say the highlight of the day was dinner. Gianto (Froddo) and the kitchen staff have really been refining their culinary skills during the off- season and the sweet chicken and veggies they prepared for us was delicious. I’ll be waiting for that one again.
KEEP ENJOYING….

G-land essentially replayed itself out today, mirroring yesterday’s conditions. Even though the winds are not doing what would be ideal…going offshore…the wind speed was low enough to keep the faces from getting overly chopped up. There were a few quality waves reeling down the point, mostly upreef at Kongs, but Money Trees did have some nice, short sections. Another fun day at G-Land.
G-land was…and is…forecasted to have some pretty variable winds, with no east showing in it all the way through the forecasts end. But expressing that, the beauty of being here and able to feel two pronounced 30-minute offshore flows today makes me very hopeful.
Something worth mentioning is the change that’s happening with the coral. When I came into the country on the 23rd, I was at Uluwatu before coming here. I noticed the change there as well…it’s impossible to be unaware of it. The coral is growing and it’s nice to see that it is. Nothing too large yet…maybe the size of your spread out hand…but time will tell how large these new colonies of fluorescent green, lavender, and baby blue coral will mature into.

I woke up with the strong hope that today would be the day I surfed again. Early morning conditions were promising, just needed the offshores to start up. Fan Palms was about 4 to 6 foot (faces) and rare sets were making it down into Moneys. I continued to feel positive that today I would remember what riding a surfboard was like…haven’t stood on one since November the 8th.

Some degree of physiological change happened to me today. We’ve been witness to the cliche of “good things come in 3,” and good things meaning quality G-Land Surf…. 3 referring to our 3rd straight day of it! But even with such conditions, all I did was sleep. Maybe I overdosed from the past 2 days, or some little critter bit me. The billiard comp from last night didn’t go that late, but that probably helped. Still, I’m not sure why I was half-dead???
Early morning conditions looked great, but I wanted to time a session with fewer people. Fewer… like surfing alone or (more…)
