G-Land this morning had that classic dry season feel.  Warm early on with a  strong atmospheric haze blocking most of our view of Gunung Grajagan.  Wind was real calm yesterday, staying low through the night until tonight as well.  So it was real clean early on and stayed that way through the day.

The swell didn’t really come up until midday, not really getting more than just overhead.  Me and 8 guests took off  at about 11:00 to go check out the caves by Pancur since it really didn’t look like the low tide running for 3 hours from 11 unitl 1 would help the surf.

The trek was pretty intense cause the foot track was still loaded with deep mud for at leat 1.5 km.  We got there and made it back down without any mishaps, went for a swim at the beach and charged back to Plengkung hoping to get a few waves.  I really enjoyed going with the crew cause they stayed positive when a lot of people would start going bitter.

Definitely some swell showing, but real inconsistent.  Fan Palms looked the best and there were even a few sets (1-2 waves in a set) running down into Inside Launching Pad.  The few guys that paddled out after the adventure said it was worth it…getting a few long ones.  The rest of us were content relaxing out front.

G-Land on April 8th 2010

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

G-Land stormed last night again.  A powerful rain squall came through from the west and released a massive amount of water.  The jungle is staying green and probably will be that way for awhile.

G-Land surf conditions this morning were positive.  The swell was still coming in from about 210 degrees and focusing 6-10 foot face sets from Kongs through upper Money Trees.  What was a good surprise was the wind was not really blowing until about 11:00.  And it really didn’t get destroyingly strong until 2:00.  So we had some nice waves…smooth faces and decent length rides.   The late afternoon-sunset conditions left almost everyone hanging on the beach, relaxing on the bale’s and watching Molly go berserk.

I’m looking forward to the day when some nice, hollow waves come to us.  I find myself getting really positive at the end of each day, curious to see what the next day will be like.  Hope all’s going well wherever you’re at.  Everyone here seems to be positive and happy with what’s happening at Plengkung.

Over time, everyone develops their own reliable line-up markers at G-Land and I visited two old, almost forgotten friends… gebang kembar.  It’s a such a fun peak that is undoubtedly reliable.  I didn’t surf until 3 today…looked at it a few times earlier on, but took one of those long, unexpected midday sleeps again. And the rest was so well used up by the non-stop wave riding that transpired from my first wave until after sunset.  Thinking back, my first wave was amazingly long.  “That wave went for so long” kept resonating in my thoughts on the 15-minute paddle back up.  WOW!!!
