G-Land was very inconsistent today, paddled out Kongs for a while and got some really fun ones. A guy I was surfing with seen a small white tip shark and I seen a small tiger shark so we were staying close together. There was alot of fish out there and birds feeding so we figured there was plenty of food for them and didn’t let it bother us too much.
The waves at money trees and speedies were the best and although inconsistent the waves were of good quality when they came with sets at a little overhead. Small and fun! Onshore came around lunch with a rain cloud that was just off the reef but was light and only lasted an hour. Other than that the winds were offshore and light for the majority of the day.
Big change over tomorrow and the boys are up for a drink tonight. It’s been pretty mellow all week so I may just join them. Kimbo and his group of lifeguards are coming so it will be good to see some familiar faces.

G-Land ended up being o.k today. The onshore seemed to be picking up so we organized a group of 10 people to check out reverse G where the wind should have been offshore judging by the conditions and the forecast we had. Loaded the boat full of boards, food, water and some beers for the ride home of course. After a 45 minute boat ride it was still onshore even though it was facing the opposite direction. The swell didn’t seem to be hitting it right either so we just ended up coming back.
We were back by 10:00am and there were still 2 beers drank so the spirits were still high. Most of the crew jumped out of the boat straight into the lineup and the rest of us followed soon after. The wind dropped off and swung offshore but stayed really calm most of the day. It was a little inconsistent but everybody got some good ones at money trees that were a little overhead and even some fun sized smaller ones down launching pads. I seen a few nice barrels and even managed to tuck into a couple as well.
Great to be back at G-Land and looking forward to spending some time here.

G-Land today had the onshore flowing all day. The swell direction and size was perfect for a fun overhead day. In fact, the swells we’ve been getting have all had really nice direction, letting the energy attach and wrap around the headland and peel down the reef. I spent a lot of the day sitting out front checking to see if a window of calm or better wind materialized. No luck!
When I wasn’t out front, I was hanging out back by the food box watching the Makak’s sort out their feeding rights. One little guy amazed me how big his balls were. He would charge right up to us, flash is teeth, raise his brow, and get withing 3 feet of our feet. That would be like me trying to front on a 20-foot tall animal. NEVER!
Happy Birthday Danny! Another delicous cake made by the kitchen staff and another good surprise for a new guest.

I woke up with the strong hope that today would be the day I surfed again. Early morning conditions were promising, just needed the offshores to start up. Fan Palms was about 4 to 6 foot (faces) and rare sets were making it down into Moneys. I continued to feel positive that today I would remember what riding a surfboard was like…haven’t stood on one since November the 8th.

Over time, everyone develops their own reliable line-up markers at G-Land and I visited two old, almost forgotten friends… gebang kembar. It’s a such a fun peak that is undoubtedly reliable. I didn’t surf until 3 today…looked at it a few times earlier on, but took one of those long, unexpected midday sleeps again. And the rest was so well used up by the non-stop wave riding that transpired from my first wave until after sunset. Thinking back, my first wave was amazingly long. “That wave went for so long” kept resonating in my thoughts on the 15-minute paddle back up. WOW!!!

G-Land Surf was a bit overhead on the sets today. Had some longish lulls here and there, but by mid morning the offshore was up already, and there were many nice waves peeling down the reef. The waves were 3-4ft and really nice shape.
