3rd consecutive day of quality G-Land Surf. Backed-off just a bit from yesterday, but “only a bit.” Every day that passes makes me more appreciative for the conditions that we’re getting. There will be that day…probably soon…where I’ll commit to the thought “yeah, the season has switched.” It’s getting hotter, more humid, a few light rains at night, more atmospheric moisture hanging above Grajagan Bay, the monsoon season started off the Philippines, BUT… the offshores are still happening. And that needs to change so I can easily “commit to that thought!”

Saturday, November 7th, 2009These early morning low-tides have really set up the later part of the day to only get better. A little more swell energy showed up today at G-Land…contra to what the forecast had predicted. And this is always a good reminder not to get overly reliant on the swell models. Money Trees was breaking more down-the-line than yesterday morning, but Kongs is and has been the staple on these retracting swell conditions. Still, it was a nice size…about 5 to 8 foot on the face at midday and still offshore all day!
By the late afternoon, Moneys rarely had sets, but no one sitting down there either. I was watching it from Kongs, hoping to get lured down there and enjoy it alone. Kongs was quality fun, but it wasn’t that consistent (more…)

Saturday, November 7th, 2009Over time, everyone develops their own reliable line-up markers at G-Land and I visited two old, almost forgotten friends… gebang kembar. It’s a such a fun peak that is undoubtedly reliable. I didn’t surf until 3 today…looked at it a few times earlier on, but took one of those long, unexpected midday sleeps again. And the rest was so well used up by the non-stop wave riding that transpired from my first wave until after sunset. Thinking back, my first wave was amazingly long. “That wave went for so long” kept resonating in my thoughts on the 15-minute paddle back up. WOW!!!

rogue faced 10-footers well groomed, polished, and clean
focused deep on Moneys pocket until the ride was done
with lip-line plumes cooling down scorching backs
and all two-legged snakes left home on the land
G-LAND WAS a DAY of PURE EPIC FUN!!!

September 22nd 2009
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009Today I felt the need to go to Bali for a week for a holiday from a holiday. 1 month in the G-Land jungle had me craving something more. The fact that I have a nasty burn on my leg and a tweaked back also encouraged me to take a Bali trip now too. So on the fast boat and a couple hours later I’m in Bali, and not long after I’m in all the Kuta nightclubs sampling many different cocktails, listening to thumping sounds, spending lots of money, and spinning into the Kuta Vortex.. Woooaaaahh!!
G-Land Surf was about 3-5ft through the day for the new (more…)
June 24th Wednesday
Wednesday, June 24th, 2009After 8 days straight of 6ft+ waves, G-Land surf had me feeling totally zapped this morning. Some sets still in the 4ft range were coming through, but a onshore breeze lasting until 11am meant that by the time it went offshore the swell also dropped to about 3ft.
G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp had a (more…)

Saturday, May 16th, 2009G-Land had some nice sets in the 3-4ft range. I even seen one freak set come through in the mid morning that reared its head on the bombie before bombing into money trees at a solid 6ft!! (more…)
