G-Land went bad today.  Really bad.  Not much swell at all and strong onshore wind pressed on through sunset.

I went for a dive today and saw 3 really beautiful white-tip reef sharks hanging in the large depression off of Launching Pad.  Kept moving up reef and saw the first blue-spotted ray in my life at the Ledge.  And right after that a small school of blue trevally.  It would have been nice if my shot was better, but at least it was bad enough to miss it completely.  I went for another shot at some type of jackfish and I still feel real bad about ricocheting off it’s side.

Looks like tomorrow may be another diving day.

G-Land folklore.  I feel bad to start rumors, but I didn’t know I was at the time.  The two Saffa’s girls didn’t see a Panther yesterday.  It was just a pig and the guys were playing with them.  Don’t know why they were playing with me, but that’s the end of that one.

G-Land still had a few fun waves today.  The swell backed off from yesterday a bit….really just getting up to just overhead, but it was pretty weak and slow.  I did see a few more powerful one’s come through, but in the end, just enough of something to get into the ocean for.

Went for a dive today looking for fish and really didn’t see too much.  Lots of upwelling going on so the visibility was bad…maybe like 15 feet max.  And the water is a bit cool from it as well.  I would think something like 77 degrees (25 degrees) so with the wind it’s cool for sure.  If you’re coming, bring some rubber.

lionfish

lionfish

Smallest day yet since I arrived 1 month ago.  A few of the guys went for a surf, but I don’t think they were able to ride a wave for more than 20 yards.   G-Land can go flat and tomorrow’s forecast is to go even flatter.  But we still have good winds.  A little south in it again, but dominantly from the east.

Cole went for a dive and speared a small Jack, the 3 Pomes (Saul-Myles-Spencer) and 2 new guests (Greg n Roger) watched a movie and had a surf, Warren went for 2 surfs I think, I saw a lionfish in the little pool off of 1st point, and Molly chased fish all day.  A calm, restful day at Bobby’s G-Land Surf Camp.

It’ll be interesting to see how calm the ocean is tomorrow since today is one of the flattest I’ve ever seen.
