Friday, October 16th, 2009Jarred made it onto the fast-boat back to Bali this morning. Giving it some thought, he’s probably at the top of the list…a list of people and the number of days spent out here in any one season. GOOD FOR YOU JARRED!!! After 6 months at G-Land, I’d imagine he’ll have some mixed feelings about leaving, but he seemed ready this morning. Jalan Legian is there waiting for him. As for me, all I can say is thanks for the opportunity bro. I’m nowhere close to having mixed feelings about being here…even with the surf conditions being what they were on my first day.
Today we had onshore winds and small, weak surf in (more…)

Monday, September 28th, 2009A new macking swell was due at some point today, in the morning it was still very small seas, the G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp fast boat ‘G-Land Express‘ had very fast smooth sailings, even though the boat was chocker full of guests wanting to avoid the overland journey with the possibility of a long wait in the Java-Bali Ferry terminal.
G-Land Surf soon picked up through the afternoon into some (more…)

Friday, September 25th, 2009Well today in Bali the swell magnets like Ulu’s and Canggu were about 2-3ft. G-Land was similar at 2-3ft but the odd bigger one, light winds in the morning, with a south-Southwest semi clean sideshore wind fanning it in the afternoon.
G-Land Surf (and Bali) has been (more…)

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009Today I felt the need to go to Bali for a week for a holiday from a holiday. 1 month in the G-Land jungle had me craving something more. The fact that I have a nasty burn on my leg and a tweaked back also encouraged me to take a Bali trip now too. So on the fast boat and a couple hours later I’m in Bali, and not long after I’m in all the Kuta nightclubs sampling many different cocktails, listening to thumping sounds, spending lots of money, and spinning into the Kuta Vortex.. Woooaaaahh!!
G-Land Surf was about 3-5ft through the day for the new (more…)

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009Happy 60th Birthday Charlie Q!! As I write this at the G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp restaurant round table, Charlie is sitting next to me eating a slice of his delicious birthday cake he received from the staff here with a traditional birthday celebration. Charlie caught some nice waves in his G-Land Surf Session in the 4-5ft range, not many people out, and clean conditions.
G-Land has had a bit of extra rain lately, (more…)

Saturday, September 5th, 2009Thankfully I had an early night last night and had a big sleep, as when I walked down the beach to check the G-Land Surf just after 7am BOOYAAAHHH! I see a solid 8ft set hit the Pad, and I quickly shoot back to the restaurant and scoff down my breakfast. I didn’t even realise the swell was coming up so much, a pleasant surprise! Unfortunately the wind didn’t come the best through the high tide, it was real South, but still some good 6-8ft sets at Money Trees, and even the odd slightly bigger rearing up on Launching Pads. The swell was a bit raw and without a stiff good offshore, not alot of waves were linking into Speedies so well. But still there was some bombs to be had! I surfed for about 4 hours and enjoyed the size surprise.
After the 1.8m tide at 12pm, just like I tell new guests when (more…)

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009G-Land still had a fair amount of swell still showing this morning. I was up at 5:30am, and jumped on my MotoX bike and shot down to Tigertracks for a quick surf, as I was soon to get on the fast boat back to Bali, to prepare for the Canggu contest tomorrow morning. Tiger’s was headhigh, but a bit of morning sickness. Some sets were bigger and closed out.
Our G-Land Express boat was really put to (more…)

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009G-Land Surf dropped a little bit over night, but still had some great waves in the 3-4ft range. The winds once again didn’t go a perfect offshore, but were still making some real clean rippable faces, with the odd barrel. The Ledge had fun waves on it nearly all day, as well as Kongs, Fan Palms and Money Trees.
G-Land was very quiet today, with the crowd peaking on (more…)
