May 24th Sunday

G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp guests were treated to another day of pumping waves! The usual morning sickness prevailed until about 9am, and then it slowly sorted itself out as the offshore began to kick in. Some great waves through the day, and some sick tube rides went down in the G-Land.

G-Land Surf spread itself out a bit on the higher tide with 6-8ft walls at Money Trees, and then some 3-4ft Speedies barrels with the odd set on Launching Pad. Ex WCT pro Jake Spooner hung down at Speedies and got a few good ones, Bootsie freefell into a Cobra Nugget and backdoor pigdogged a hell section and made it. Was great viewing.

I ended that session with a nice overhead standup barrel through Speedies. Then went back out for the low tide late arvo surf, which was a light offshore with 6-8ft sets bombing through... some really good waves! My last ride went to inside launching pads and ended with a 6 wave set belting me on the head in the near dark stormy sunset. Didn't catch my breath again till I sat down in the happy hour area for a beer. Also had a nice wipeout when trying to get a stand up barrel, i miss timed it by 1 inche and the lip clipped me on the head at the exit and flipped me violently over the falls and gave me a good clobbering!

Even with a lot of experience, G-Land can really belt the living daylights out of you. A bunch of school girls were on the beach today from Banyuwangi (some of them were pretty cute too) practicing their English with the guests. One asked me 'Is G-Land a challenge?' and I said it gets easier with time. But really I got my ass whipped in my surf following that conversation. Ha ha G-Land always wins.
