August 23rd 2009

Considering G-Land is one of the best waves in the world and the camps are cheaply priced, I am very surprised at the low numbers of surfers on the point right now in August, with a set of New Moon Tides and 2 south swells during these tides! Is it the economic recession? Whatever it is, surfers that have been here in August have been scoring the most uncrowded month of this whole season!

G-land Surf today was 3-4ft all morning, glassy early, then trades coming through already before 9am. All sections of the reef had waves from Kongs down to Speedies. In the afternoon it got a bit smaller. I shot down to Tigertracks late morning, and scored the funnest 2ft bowling righthanders too myself, I was stoked!! Then after lunch I just relaxed, had a nap, watched some of the Prison Break season 4 and did a bit of yoga.

Looking like tomorrow will be small, and then Tuesday has the potential to be the best Speedies session of the season! Of course we can never know until the day as many previous swells have proved.
